To me one of the highlights during Copenhagen Fashion Week is always Bruuns Bazaar, who last year appointed former COS-designer Rebekka Bay as the new creative director. You all know that my love for COS is huge and I was pretty excited to see where she would take Bruuns Bazaar. The SS12 collection – in stores now – is her first for the Danish brand, which was launched back in 1994 by Teis and Bjørn Bruun. It’s simple and elegant with hard-to-see detailing.
Thursday I went to see the AW12-collection showed in Designmuseum Denmark. For the collection Bruuns Bazaar was inspired by relations and proportions in art, architecture and design from the likes of artist Jenny Holzer and architect Jean Prouve. The collection was strong, sophisticated and minimalistic with shift dresses, cropped trousers, turtlenecks and knee-long skirts creating an oblong silhouette with references to the 50s and 60s. Among my favorite looks are the almond-colored taffeta skirt with the woolen blouse and the oxblood red trousers in combination with the printed top. Relaxed elegance – yes please.
