I keep wanting to own everything I see from 3.1 Phillip Lim. Chunky knitwear, pointy shoes, tapered trousers and jackets constructed to look like two layered pieces are just some of the highlights in the AW12 collection, which was showed yesterday in New York. Pre-fall’s superheroes left the Ka-Pow! behind and became more sophisticated and powerful for fall. I like that. I also really like the see-through pants and sleeves in combination with chunky knit and sleek leather. And of course the bad-ass accessories as in shoes, bags, collars, belts and sunnies (fingers crossed that they’ll suit my not-suitable-for-sunnies-face).
What to go for? Knitted capes and coats, oversized clutches, forrest colors, black ‘n’ white, rubber belts and collars, tapered trousers (preferably with a slit), pointy shoes and a cinched waist.
What not to go for? The see-through bag. It looks amazing on the catwalk, but imagine what it would look like in real life. It wouldn’t take me more than a couple of hours to make it both messy and greasy.
Finally. Are you ready to dress like a sophisticated superhero? I am.
